Teen Coaching

The Teen years are some of the most challenging and difficult transitional years in one’s life. It is normal for teens to struggle with some aspect of their lives.

Most likely you want to see your teen take more responsibility for his/her life, actions, goals and commitments. All parents want to see their teen be successful, happy, confident, and having acquired the skills and self-knowledge to help them through the teen years so they can turn out to be well-adjusted adults. Parents are caring people. Sometimes we don’t have the time or skills to deal with all these issues. Sometimes we don’t know which way to turn. What better way than with a one-on-one teen life coach that provides your teen with individual attention.  Although parents can learn to coach, sometimes an “outsider” is a better coach.  It’s difficult to be a parent and coach your own teens.

Evolve Teen Coaching isn’t just about working with teens who have problems or issues. Some teens may be fully functioning but want more. They may be looking for direction, purpose, a sense of who they are, or perhaps they just want to have more confidence. They may desire to be the stewards of their own lives and in order to do that, they need to know and understand themselves better. They may realize they want to be the leader in their own life. They may want help in daring to try something new, or different from the status quo. Or they may just want to make sense of how they best fit into this world and how they may best utilize their strengths and gifts.

Some common teen issues are:

  • School struggles
  • Difficulty making good decisions
  • Not focused
  • Priorities and values not clear
  • Looks outward for answers (often in the wrong places)
  • Feeling insecure, uncertain, or lacking confidence
  • Not motivated
  • Avoids responsibilities
  • Worried about physical changes
  • Frequent conflicts (poor communication skills)
  • Perfectionism
  • Learning disabilities
  • Little (or no) sense of identity
  • Feeling unheard or misunderstood
  • Inability to relate to others / Poor social skills
  • Feeling isolated
  • Being disorganized
  • No friends, or the “wrong” friends
  • Anxiety (which often prevents them from taking action)
  • Unhealthy lifestyle
  • Easily influenced by others (especially peers)
  • Going down the “wrong path” (but doesn’t know how to change things)
  • Low self esteem (and the plethora of issues related to this)
  • Difficulty with relationships (friends, parents, teachers)
  • Unknowns about dating and sex
  • Alcohol or drug abuse
  • Fluctuating moods and hormones
  • Confusion, Frustration or Overwhelm
  • Uncertainties about future
  • Peer pressure
  • Stress
  • Fears and reluctances
  • Getting “off track” (at school, with priorities, or life in general)

We expect teens to have the inner resources and outer strength to deal with these issues, but the fact is they often need help. Just as athletes need a coach to help them accelerate their learning and performance, teens need a life coach for the same reason.

Ultimately, Evolve Teen Coaching International works with young people to help them Evolve into the best person they can possibly be and live the life of their dreams. Starting in your teen years is ideal.
